Role: Graphic Designer, Video Editor & Lead Sound Designer

At the end of each semester, an event takes place at our university, where all students get to present the project they worked on. We were challenged to create a design and overall concept for this event. Our group went in an unconventional direction that stood apart from the previous designs, which had a more corporate feel to them. We wanted it to be messy and filled with visual information, trying to show what defines digital and what sets us apart from traditional artists.

The Production

To highlight the contrast between digital and traditional, I incorporated real footage of ink and paint spills, layering various effects on top. A notable technique used is datamoshing, which exploits video compression to create artifacts commonly associated with digital media. We also emphasized this duality in the sound design by blending foley sounds with digital instruments and processing to create jazz-like rhythms and patterns.
After each group presented their concept, our design came out on top and we started with the realization. I took the role of Lead Sound Designer, collaborating with my team to create the final sound designs for the live event.

The Result

With the help of my team, we successfully created multiple sound designs for trailers, bumpers, lower thirds, and other assets, all of which captured our initial vision and stayed true to the concept. After several rounds of iteration with the trailer team, refining different versions, we arrived at a final result that blended the digital and organic elements we aimed for. The dynamic visuals, paired with our layered soundscapes, reinforced the contrast between traditional and modern media, ultimately bringing the event branding to life in a unique and engaging way.
